Description
There is always a fresh excitement to be gained by seeing familiar places through the eyes of men and women who are particularly sensitive to them. Therefore, when we commissioned this work, we decided to confine ourselves to our British mountains and to approach writers who we felt would be likely to have a highly individual reaction to their subject.
Corserine, as seen through the eyes of Stephen Bone, the artist, would, we felt, be likely to differ in a variety of ways from Tryfan, seen through the eyes of Wilfrid Noyce, the climber, whilst Great Gable would be likely to present Peter Bicknell, the architect, an appearance which would contrast effectively with the view of Stack Polly taken by James Fisher, the naturalist.
